How To Clean Stains From The Surface Of Plush Products

Stains on plush toys can be removed using five methods: washing, spot cleaning, disinfection, air drying, and daily maintenance.

1. Washing: For washable plush toys, soak them in a neutral detergent for 15 minutes in water below 30℃, gently rubbing the stained area. For machine washing, place the toy in a laundry bag and select a gentle cycle; spin-dry for no more than 1 minute. Dark-colored toys should be washed separately to prevent color bleeding. After washing, immediately pat dry with a towel.

2. Spot Cleaning: For toys that cannot be washed, sprinkle baking soda on the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. Gently brush with a soft-bristled brush in the direction of the plush. For stubborn stains, spray with a mixture of white vinegar and water in a 1:3 ratio, let it sit for 5 minutes, and then wipe with a damp cloth. For oily stains, apply a small amount of undiluted dish soap and clean with a cotton swab.

3. Disinfection: For ultraviolet disinfection, place the toy in direct sunlight for 4 hours, turning it over to ensure thorough sterilization. A garment steamer, positioned 20cm away, uses high-temperature steam to kill dust mites without damaging the stuffing. Medical alcohol spray is suitable for localized disinfection; allow it to stand for 10 minutes to evaporate after spraying.

4. Drying Tips: After washing, lay the garment flat on a clothesline to prevent deformation and dry it in a cool, well-ventilated place, reversed. Long-pile plush toys can be combed with a wide-tooth comb to maintain their shape; stuffed toys should have their stuffing patted to prevent clumping. Avoid direct drying with a heater or dryer, as high temperatures will cause the plush fibers to harden.
