Cleaning Methods For Plush Products

1. Dry Cleaning Method: Buy a bag of coarse salt. Put the coarse salt and the dirty plush toy into a large plastic bag, tie the bag tightly, and shake vigorously. You will find that the plush toy becomes clean. The coarse salt will turn grayish-black because it has absorbed the dirt. The principle is to utilize the adsorption effect of sodium chloride (table salt) on dirt. Baking soda can also be used instead of coarse salt, and the method is the same. This method is more suitable for large plush toys and plush toys that make sounds and cannot be washed with water.

2. Washing Method:

(1) Choose a suitable water temperature.

Many high-end plush toys need to be washed with warm water to avoid damaging their softness. Generally, the water temperature should be controlled at 30-40 degrees Celsius. However, in the hot summer, there is no need to add boiling water. Washing the plush toys with water that has been exposed to the sun is quite suitable.

(2) Wash plush toys of different colors separately. When washing plush toys, separate light and dark colors to avoid mixing them. Color bleeding can stain other toys, which will look unsightly. This is especially true for solid-colored plush toys, such as pure white or pure pink, which will look terrible if they get stained with other colors.

(3) Use a neutral detergent if possible.

When washing plush toys, it's best to use a neutral detergent (silk and wool detergent is preferable), as it's gentler and won't cause shedding or color fading. Add the appropriate amount of detergent, following the instructions to avoid waste. Coarse salt can also be used to wash plush toys, but be careful with the amount.

(4) Be careful with the pressure when washing plush toys. Don't squeeze or knead them too hard, as this can damage the toy or cause shedding. Adjust the pressure according to the texture of the plush toy; use less force for long-pile plush toys and gently rub short-pile or non-pile plush toys.

(5) Choose appropriate washing tools. Because plush toys are soft, they cannot be scrubbed with ordinary brushes; a special soft-bristled brush for plush toys should be used. When purchasing a soft-bristled brush, choose a high-quality one that does not shed.

(6) Soak the plush toy in detergent solution first. Before washing, add the detergent solution and wait until it is fully dissolved before soaking the plush toy for about half an hour. Turn it over several times during soaking to ensure it is fully dissolved. This will make washing the plush toy much easier.
